I was born in Iran and educated in England and Australia. My surgical training started
at the Orthopaedic unit of The London Hospital, a pioneering centre for hip and knee
arthroplasty. In 1996 I emigrated to Australia where I completed my training in
orthopaedic surgery. I was awarded the fellowship of the Royal Australasian college
of surgeons in 2004. I spent a further twelve months subspecialising in the surgery
