Associate Professor John IRELAND
F.R.A.C.S., F.A.Orth.A.
Associate Professor John Ireland is Sydney born and trained and graduated from the University of
New south Wales in 1980.
He is the 1980 Foundation Medallist in Medicine.

He was awarded his Fellowship from the Royal Australasian college of Surgery in
1990, and Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association in 1994.
He completed a Fellowship in Joint Replacement surgery at the Norfolk and Norwich
Hospital, Norfolk, UK.
He was also awarded AO and Zimmer traveling Fellowships in Joint Replacement
surgery and Trauma.
Since returning to Australia, Associate Professor Ireland has worked the last 17 years in the west of Sydney. Initally at Nepean Hospital , Campbelltown and Liverpool Hospitals, now he is chairman of the Whitlam Joint Replacement Centre based at Fairfield Hospital,servicing the South Western Sydney Area. Continuing his commitment to Orthopaedics, Professor Ireland is also the Area Clinical Director of Orthopaedics for the Western Zone.
