Dr. John IRELAND F.R.A.C.S., F.A.Orth.A. Dr John Ireland is Sydney born and trained and graduated from the University of New south Wales in 1980. He is the 1980 Foundation Medallist in Medicine.

He was awarded his Fellowship from the Royal Australasian college of Surgery in
1990, and Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association in 1994.

He completed a Fellowship in Joint Replacement surgery at the Norfolk and Norwich
Hospital, Norfolk, UK.

He was also awarded AO and Zimmer traveling Fellowships in Joint Replacement
surgery and Trauma.

Since returning to Australia Dr Ireland has worked the last 13years, in the West of
Sydney. Initially at Nepean Hospital , Penrith; Campbelltown Hospital and Liverpool
Hospital . He was formerly Head of the Orthopaedic Department at Liverpool . In
recent times he has become Chairman of the Whitlam Joint Replacement Centre,
based at Fairfield Hospital but servicing the South West Area Health Service. He
continues his appointment at Liverpool Hospital .

Adult Reconstructive and Replacement Surgery. This includes Joint Replacement
and Revision Surgery of Hip, Knee, Shoulder and Ankle.
Current Experience includes almost 2000 Joint Replacements using all recognised
and validated types of prostheses and including minimal invasive techniques.
Arthroscopic Surgery of all major joints. This includes ligament reconstruction.
