Dr Justin Paoloni is Sydney born and trained and graduated
from the University of New South Wales in 1996.
Internship and residency was followed by four years
accredited specialist training with the Australasian College
of Sports Physicians which was completed in 2004.
Dr Paoloni is a qualified Sports Physician specialising in
the non-surgical management of musculoskeletal injuries. He
specialises in the management of tendon injury, major joint
and muscle injury, joint injection and drainage, injury
rehabilitation, osteoarthritis, and training
and injury
prevention strategies for all sports.
He was the Sports Medicine Research Fellow at the
Orthopaedic Research Institute at
St George Hospital from
2000-2004.
He has trained extensively in musculoskeletal medicine and
sports injury management
completing a PhD thesis on the
treatment of tendon injuries in 2003 (Achilles tendon, tennis
elbow, and shoulder tendon injuries) and has received numerous
local and international
awards for his clinical research.
Dr Paoloni has also completed a Masters of Sports Medicine
at the University of New South
Wales.
He was appointed Conjoint Senior Lecturer at UNSW in 2005.
He has a long history of sports team care. He
has previously been the Co-Medical Director
for the
Brisbane Broncos NRL Club and Medical Director of the Canberra
Raiders NRL team,
the Wests-Tigers NRL team, Parramatta Rugby
Union teams, and has
toured with Australian sporting teams
including the Australian volleyball team, and Australian
soccer teams.
Justin is a keen sportsman who is a qualified grade 1
tennis coach, a current Amateur
League soccer player and
Vice-captain of the Australian Medical Soccer Team, and an
accomplished hiker who has trekked in Australia, South
America, Central and North
America, Canada, China, Thailand,
the Middle East, and Kyrgyzstan.
